LaVon Harris Jones of Nephi never retired, she just got Retreaded.

After both her parents died when LaVon Harris was young, she had already had work as a typist for an Insurance Co. then for A.E Smith, the County Agent. She was prepared to work as that is what her father-taught her to do. She dated but didn't get too serious until Alma Jones of East Nortonville came home from the Army. He was often called "Cash": as Coyn was his middle name, and seldom carried nothing more than a handkerchief and pepper in his pocket. But they were both itching for each other and by gum by golly, they got hitched and that Stork got busy, as it flew by about every 10 months or so. When the kids got to wear hand sewed clothes to school, LaVon went back to work, this time typing for the Utah Poultry, which was located just north of the Hobo Camp of Salt Creek. If you don't know where that used to be, then talk to some original Nephi folks, who used to take great food to those Vagabonds right after Church was out, or during the Ute Stampede. LaVon then became the Secretary to Clyde Child, who was the Juab School Supt, then for Ralph Menlove and Clark Newell. Her sons figured she only did that work to keep an eye on four young hoodlums as her kids! She then got retreaded at Steve Greenwoods Retreading Business, then went with VISTA, then Colonial Manor, then took a no paying job to send letters and a dollar to every kid in the military or on an LDS Mission. My guess is that God recognized that most exceedly. Now the rest of the story is how she was the Employee of the Month at the old Forrest Hotel, which became the new Nursing Home in Nephi. The reverse of that bulletin has different business' in town. If anyone can figure out where Fergs used to be, go there and as the winner, ask for their .17 cents per gallon of gasoline! Couldn't figure out how to turn photo, so you will just have to turn your eyes. Tis easier to do that then for me to try to fix it.
