If you were traveling through Utah during the 1950's or 60's, the drive through Nephi was considered the four-way place to stop for gas, food or lodging on Hi-way 91. It was a small rural town, and many of the tourists liked to walk to Pioneer Park to watch the local kids play baseball. In those days, the younger kids often walked up and down the street and if you had a car, it was the safe place to "Drag Main", but now a days, the kids have hand held thing a ma jigs and appear to be allergic to work or school lessons! The Center of Juab County is not as peaceful like by-gone days, as herds of people with more money than sense are driving up the price of homes and pushing the farmers out of the water we used to have, but folks have not yet become like the "Swamp" of DC! The good thing is we have the water the crop owners had to give up when they sold their land, so we have pure water to blend in with the Coffee we still serve. No, we don't have Ray's Cafe or the Snak Shack, but two great Coffee Shops at the "Haven Coffee House" at 65 S. Main or the new "Beans & Brew" at 1508 S. Main. And in Nephi it is easy to find an address as you just have to know which way North, South, East, and West is and start in the middle. Our local leaders refused to be like California where you can get lost without trying! The Haven Coffee Shop has an outside deck where you can gaze at the Salt Creek running(but we didn't have enough snowpack this year) and a good place to do computer work down stairs or go upstairs for a good get to know others while you sip on your expresso! It is professionally ran with a personal crew. The newly opened Beans and Brew has any coffee you need and great sandwiches. They are close to the South Freeway off and on, and we met a family on their way back to California. And their is hotels near by and down main their is Lisa's cafe and that just happens to be a great place for home cookin food for this writer who doesn't know a pot from a pan and ruined my Micro-wave when I tried to put wood in to fire it up!
