WITH SOME PARENTAL HELP, KIDS COME UP WITH FUN WITHOUT GIZMOS

It is a little difficult to believe, but in my days as a kid, we found joy in hiking to the glory holes(where gypsum was mined north east of J Hill) to be scared out of our wits by owls and bats; sail hand carved boats down the irrigation ditches; used socks as gloves to deliver papers and to play baseball with a 2 x 4, with a rock as a baseball. One of the best events that required adult supervision, along with State Road and City leaders, was to release carp in front of the ole Nephi/Juab High, that is now the County Complex, and give prizes to whoever caught the carp that was trapped there when the drains were plugged. All ages played and still remember it was a fun time and a lot of luck. I have ate carp before, and hope we didn't back then. Later on, I found that people in China used that as their staple food. I am old and don't know how to make this 1964 Times News scan bigger. Sorry, but no grandkids to do it for me.
