You know you're from Juab County if you know a Blackett. One of my favorite was Clead Blackett, who lived in Nephi, and just guessing, on the corner of 6th North and 3rd East. He was wheelchair bound but that didn't stop him from his expert workmanship of leather, doing his work in a small shop behind the house. During the 1950's and sixties, he loved helping Scouts get their merit badges, and just an all round good guy. Later on, I enjoyed taking him Venison roasts, not just because he liked deer meat, but because I thoroughly enjoyed being in his company. He was a man's man, but he must have been a woman's man also, as he married a pretty woman, and his daughters were ones you would adore taking to the Junior Prom. The second photo is of Clead's son-Randy, who passed away in 1992. Like his father, he was devoted to helping people, at least while not having fun with horses and sports. If you knew Clead, you knew the cream of the crop.
