Get ready to get wet. Nephi kids don't have to walk down by the Utah Poultry to learn how to swim in the nearby pools of water from Salt Creek. We have finally got our very own swimming pool. The attached photo appears to have been cut out of The Times News of June 25, 1959, and not sure who the dignitaries are, but as nearly as I recall, Trudy Boswell was representing Nephi when she dove off the high dive. That was the official opening, but rumors were abound that some teenagers had already improperly initiated it before hand, and Jack Brough was still looking for the scoundrels. Lifeguards may be remembered with names such as Norm Greenhalgh, Byron Rasmussen, Martell Menlove, Marge Painter, John Bracken, Merrie Chase and Jaynette Jones.

With yesterdays snow storm, it is hard to believe that the Nephi Swimming pool will soon be opening.

My dad worked for the Nephi City Water Dept and was responsible to clean the dressing rooms and the pool and maintain the equipment for a lot of years. I and my siblings spent time helping him!
